The
NEBOSH International General Certificate
concentrates on legal requirements,
incorporating international standards (such
as ILO Codes of Practice) and general
principles of good practice, making it
relevant to personnel all over the world. It
has been designed for managers, supervisors
and employee representatives and is ideal
for anyone who wants to establish a career
in health and safety.
The Certificate course is for personnel e.g. managers, supervisors,
non-safety specialists etc with health & safety responsibilities & who need a
grounding & recognized qualification in occupational safety & health.
- Understand the legal framework, moral & economic requirements &
implications for good standards in health & safety within an organisation.
- Develop, promote & communicate an effective health & safety culture in an
organisation.
- Identify the key features of a health & safety policy, the preparations
& performance review of a health & safety audit. Understand the importance
of proactive & reactive health & safety monitoring measures.
- Identify hazards in the workplace & carry out risk assessments, record
findings & review procedures.
- Advise on strategies for controlling hazards, reducing risks & applying
safe systems of work.
- Identify fire hazards & consequential risks, advise on measures to minimize
fire risks & develop fire procedures.
- Identify ill health effects of physical processes of work & the
environment & recommend suitable measures to combat risks.
- Explain the processes & procedures for investigating & reporting accidents
and incidents at work.
10 days for training with an extra day for exams (IGC 1 and GC2)
Exam - There are two written papers for two hours each – IGC 1: Management of
Safety & Health, GC 2: Controlling Workplace Hazards. There is also a practical
assessment of a workplace with a management report which has to be submitted by
delegates and this covers the GC 3 exams.
Delegates are awarded the International General Certificate on successful
completion of the three exams with a pass.
